AF Farms is a Purebred Arabian horse breeding and racing enterprise founded in the early 1990s by Khalid Khalifa Al Nabooda.

Under his vision and direction, AF Farms has, for over 30 years, consistently produced top-class homebred racehorses that have competed at the highest level on racecourses in the UAE and Europe. We have bred numerous PA Group 1 winners that have carried our black and silver silks to glory in some of the world’s most prestigious races.

AF Farms has had an exceptionally exciting journey in the world of racing and breeding of Purebred Arabians for over three decades and has progressively evolved into a leader in the sport of Arabian racing with over 400 winners worldwide.

Today, AF Farms is celebrated as a top-class Purebred Arabian racing and breeding operation, with a long list of champions past and present on our stud roster. AF Farms has ensured a tranquil and harmonious environment at all our four locations at Al Aweer, Al Bahayes, Al Hanouf and Al Madam House Farms, where after a careful study we bring together bloodlines in our pursuit of perfecting the UAE breed.

AF Farms was started in the early 1990’s by Mr Khalid Khalifa Al Nabooda with the vision of breeding and preserving the local UAE Purebred Arabian Racehorses which in turn could compete against the very best in the World….

This vision began with Al Aweer Farm which is located in the beautiful green oasis of the same name just outside Dubai and has grown to include Al Bahayes, Al Hanouf and Al Madam House Farm all 3  which are located in Al Madam, Sharjah, by contrast Al Bahayes, Al Hanouf, and Al Madam House Farm which lie near the dramatic Hajjar Mountains, where the horses enjoy freedom and pure air in an area that reflects all the beauty of the surrounding natural desert environment.

Khalid Khalifa Al Nabooda – Champion Owner and Master Breeder

AF Farms was started in the early 1990’s by Mr Khalid Khalifa Al Nabooda with the vision of breeding and preserving the heritage of the UAE Purebred Arabian, a line which he believed was superior and one with potential to compete and conquer the very best in the world. And so vision joined forces with action and dream started to become reality with the establishment of Al Aweer Farm, which has since become the integral and indispensable ‘AF’ prefix that lends its names to our horses.

Since setting up base at Al Aweer Farm, which is located in the beautiful green Al Aweer Oasis on the outskirts of Dubai, Khalid’s operation has grown exponentially and has quadrupled to include the facilities of Al Bahayes, Al Hanouf and Al Madam House Farm, which are all located in Al Madam, Sharjah.

Al Bahayes, Al Hanouf and Al Madam House Farm are set against the backdrop of the dramatic Hajar Mountains, where the horses enjoy freedom and pure air in an area that reflects the beauty of the surrounding natural desert environment.

It was a feat which many thought of as impossible, but through perseverance, patience and self-belief Khalid persisted and progressed towards achieving his vision…

The 2018/2019 Racing Season was another special season for Mr Khalid Khalifa Al Nabooda and AF Farms for a number of reasons…….

In February 2019 Mr Khalid Al Nabooda and AF Farms were responsible for breeding of 5 out of 5 winners at the Abu Dhabi Race meeting…..4 of the winners ran in Mr Khalid Al Naboodah’s Colours and the 5th winner ran in the colours of H.H. Sh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

AF Farms has so far bred two individual winners of one of the world’s richest Purebred Arabian races, the Group 1 Dubai Kahayla Classic on Dubai World Cup night, with AF Mathmoon, bred by Khalid, first clinching the 2016 edition in the colours of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and then AF Maher bestowing the honour on Khalid as owner-breeder in 2019…

AF Farms has so far bred two individual winners of one of the world’s richest Purebred Arabian races, the PA Group 1 Dubai Kahayla Classic on Dubai World Cup night, with AF Mathmoon, bred by Khalid, first clinching the 2016 edition in the colours of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and then AF Maher bestowing the honour on Khalid as owner-breeder in 2019…

2019 was a standout year for the AF Farms operation for a number of reasons, but it was made all the more special by the fact that Khalid was flanked on the podium as he lifted his second Champion Owner trophy by his full-time trainer Ernst Oertel and first-choice rider Tadhg O’Shea who won their respective Champion Trainer and Champion Jockey titles further underscoring the force of the AF Farms enterprise.

That second championship, won spectacularly, with a massive tally of 50 winners, followed his first championship at the end of the 2016/17 campaign and set into motion a superb run that saw him win back-to-back titles in 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21. Khalid also came within a whisker of winning the Dubai Kahayla Classic for the second time in March 2021, with AF Alwajel falling only just short in his quest.

In 2019, Khalid also enjoyed the unique distinction of breeding the winners of all five Purebred Arabian races on the Abu Dhabi card, with four winning in his own colours and a fifth triumphing in the blue of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Winning the Owners Championship with horses bred by him had been a lifelong dream for Khalid and with four championships now under the belt……It is a Dream Come True….
